St Leonards School, UK

St Leonards School occupies its own campus in a prominent position on the edge of St Andrews, a thriving and charming university town on the Fife coast. It is well known for its colourful history, castle and cathedral ruins, miles of sandy beach and a long-established golf tradition. St Andrews is an hour’s drive from Edinburgh or two hours from Glasgow, both of which have international airports.
St Leonards School is fully co-educational and welcomes day pupils from the ages of 5 to18, with the option of boarding from the age of 12. Our forward-thinking educational programme is designed to maximize the potential of each and every student. We teach them to work effectively, communicate articulately, respect others and participate with purpose. Children develop athletic and artistic skills through our extensive facilities for sport, art, drama, music and IT, contained within a secure campus. Boarding accommodation is in shared or individual rooms in traditional houses that have been fully modernised.

We cater for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Pupils are taught in classes from Year 1 to Year 7. Out of the classroom, pupils enjoy a good range of activities. The main sports are rugby, netball and lacrosse in the Winter Term; hockey in the Spring Term; cricket, tennis and athletics in the Summer Term.
St Leonards Senior School educates pupils in co-educational classes from Years 8-11 (ages 12-16), with the option of boarding from Year 8 (age 12). At the end of Year 11, all pupils sit GCSE examinations in a broad range of subjects.
Subjects studied in these years include English, Maths, French, History, Geography, Drama, PE, Latin, Comparative Religion, Music, Art and ICT. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught both as separate disciplines and in a combined science course. In Year 9, an introduction to both German and Spanish is given allowing students to make informed choices for GCSE. In addition, many students take advantage of extra-curricular opportunities in Drama and Music. We have choirs, instrumental ensembles and pipe and rock bands, and offer teaching in singing, guitar, drums and harp as well as the traditional orchestral instruments.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma is a unique preparation for university and for life in a world that is shrinking on the one hand but increasingly fractured on the other. At St Leonards you will work and relax with students from all over the world, all of whom enrich and are enriched by the diversity of language and culture which surrounds them. Only by accepting and celebrating our differences can we help to break down the barriers to peaceful coexistence.
